Senior / Lead Test Automation Engineer

We are looking for a Senior / Lead Test Automation Engineer who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to assess, guide, and elevate automation maturity across product teams. This role goes beyond writing tests—you will shape automation strategy, advise teams, and initiate sustainable automation practices at company level.
Your responsibilities
Assess automation maturity of product teams and identify improvement opportunities
Define and evolve the test automation strategy for the organization
Advise product teams on what, when, and how to automate
Initiate automation within teams by:
selecting tools and frameworks,
building initial automation foundations,
creating first automation scripts and patterns
Gradually hand over ownership of automation to team automation testers
Act as a quality and automation advisor, monitoring progress and ensuring consistency
Support UI, API, integration, and event-based automation initiatives
Promote best practices, standards, and reusability across teams
Collaborate with Test Managers, Developers, Architects, and Product Owners
Support CI/CD integration and scalable automation approaches
What we expect
Strong experience in test automation architecture and implementation
Hands-on expertise in UI and API automation (e.g. Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, REST tools)
Solid programming skills (Java / JavaScript / TypeScript / Python)
Experience designing automation frameworks from scratch
Ability to evaluate existing automation solutions and improve them
Experience working with Agile product teams
Strong analytical skills and a consultative mindset
Ability to influence teams without direct authoritys
Excellent communication and mentoring skills
Nice to have:
Experience auditing or assessing QA / automation maturity
Background in financial or regulated environments
Knowledge of event-driven architectures
Cloud experience (AWS / Azure)
Interest in AI-supported testing and innovation
