Your responsibilities:

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the organisation’s core data platform.

• Oversee multidisciplinary delivery and platform engineering teams across design, build, test, deployment, and operations.

• Manage priorities, risks, issues, and dependencies with senior business, data, and IT stakeholders.

• Ensure high‑quality, on‑time delivery of technology change and platform enhancements.

• Drive Agile ways of working, DevSecOps practices, and modern data engineering techniques.

• Manage internal and external resources, including a development budget of up to £2m.

• Lead continuous improvement across delivery processes, platform performance, and engineering practices.

• Ensure strong data governance, data quality, and compliance across the platform lifecycle.

• Champion the adoption of modern AWS‑based data platform technologies and tooling.

Our requirements:

• Degree in an IT‑related field plus relevant software or data engineering certifications.

• Strong knowledge of cloud‑native data platforms, AWS services, and modern engineering practices.

• Understanding of data governance, data quality, regulatory requirements, and financial services environments.

• Strong leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• Expertise in Agile delivery, stakeholder management, and negotiation.

• Ability to manage budgets, outsourced teams, and complex delivery environments.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts clearly.

• Senior IT leadership experience in software development or data platform engineering.

• Proven track record delivering large‑scale technology initiatives.

• Experience working in matrix teams and managing third‑party suppliers.

• Occasional international travel.
